Treat your pet like a gift it is.

Every year, thousand of animals are abondened by their owners. Each one with a different excuse, but all of them with their pets in hand claiming they can’t keep it anymore.

The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was established in 1840 and is the oldest and largest animal charity in the Republic of Ireland.

The DSPCA is the only animal welfare charity in the city that cares for all animals, domestic and wild. This is a tradition the staff at the DSPCA are very proud of.

If you can dodge, you can dodgeball

Dodgeball is a sport, but it is not a regular type of entertainment. It is fun, but also competitive. It makes you think strategically and develops motor activity. You can start playing Dodgeball as a kid, and there is no age for retirement, it is your physical condition that decides whether you stop or keep playing, and it will be judged only by you.

To find out more about dodgeball and where to play it here in Dublin, listen to this documentary.

Blessington Street basin, a hidden park in the heart of Dublin

Whatever you want a place to take a walk or sit and read a book or even have a chat with a friend, you should pay a visit to Blessington Street Basin. The park links two neighborhoods; its entrance is at Blessington Street, Dublin 1 or North Circular Road, Dublin 7.

“It’s like being in Narnia, I came from North Circular and suddenly I’m here seeing all these beautiful birds in this lovely park”, said a person by referring to the book the Chronicles of Narnia.

And I certainly agree with him; it is like crossing a portal to another place, so peaceful.

You will be surprised with the beauty of the swans and birds swimming all around the little lake, while the sun can help you to take some nice photos.

The opening hours varies depending on the month of the year, during the summer it will be opened until 11pm, while in winter time it closes at 4:30pm.

Keep it Local with Tops in Pops Quality Grocery Products that give back to the Community

It seems like every week a new Starbucks or Metro Tesco pops up on another corner around Dublin. Though there are dozens of these stores around the city there is little, if any, variation of the wares for sale inside. Although multinational companies often champion fair trade or locally sourced initiatives the reality is that many of these companies can force out smaller retailers with their marketing and pricing.

While this might seem as though globalised companies are pushing out the local producers and retailers there is also good news; Bord Bia revealed that the number of small food and drink businesses it works with has grown by over 40% (42%) from 400 to 700 in just under four years. Bord Bia estimates that the small food and drink business sector is worth some €400 million.

Tops in Pops is one of these small business that is growing in line with big companies. Supporting local producers and retailers creates positive ripples on everything from employment right through to carbon footprint and can help create diverse communities that endorse both patronage and tourism.

By-elections are due to take place on Friday 29th November in four constituencies around the country.

Voters from Cork North-Central, Dublin Mid-West, Dublin Fingal and Wexford will choose their candidates to replace TDs that were elected to the European Parliament earlier this year.

The seats have to be filed within six months of becoming vacant, and the General elections will only be held in May of next year 2020.

Twelve candidates will run to try to get the empty seat left by Clare Daly.

Duncan Smith Joined the Labour Party in 2008 and was elected to Fingal County Council in June 2014. He became active in the local organization and asserts that he “got involved in local campaigns regarding planning, job losses, better transport, and housing. I firmly believe we need young and vibrant voices in our local Council chamber”.

Lorraine Clifford-Lee is the Fianna Fail spokesperson on Justice and Equality, Children and Youth Affairs. As a fluent Irish speaker, she is committed to the development of the Irish language as a vibrant, living language. Lorraine is passionate about delivering high-quality public services for the people of North County Dublin.

What living abroad can do for people?

Living abroad can be an exciting experience. Waking up in another culture, learning a new language, working with something completely different are challenges that a person who decides to go on this journey will find.

Some people leave behind great jobs, family, and friends to embrace an adventure that they will remember for the rest of their lives. It doesn’t matter if it is only a few months or long years. A person living abroad will always have a heart full of memories.

Three Firemen Die Fighting Blaze in City Centre Nightclub

Three firemen died fighting a fire in the Four by Four Night club in Rio de Janeiro city centre on Friday afternoon, 18th October. Three other members of the fire brigade were hospitalized at the Hospital Souza Aguiar, with one in critical condition. The fire brigade confirmed the death of the three firemen, but did not disclose their names.

The fire started around 11:30am in an old building where the night club was situated. The premises were empty, so the fire was quickly controlled at first. However a gas leak in the building caused an explosion resulting in heavy debris falling onto the firemen working below. It became apparent that the fire was more serious that initially suspected following the gas leak explosion and the resulting influx of black smoke.
